Merry-go-round that was damaged was repaired.
10 additional metal picnic tables were assembled.
Erosion work was done this past fall and winter on Hazelwood Park along with the beach sand play area and volley ball court. As the summer progresses we have noticed that the erosion work needs additional work done and our contractor has been contacted and will revisit this in the fall. Because of wear damage to the Hazelwood playscape it will be replaced with one found at a reduced price on Craig’s list! We ask if you notice any issues at the parks to please give a board member a call.
Don has not received any bids back for removing the fallen birch on Hazelwood Park. The Board had asked for a few bids to do the job first. Don will continue to pursue this. Jim would like to talk to some volunteers and ask if they would join him with chain saws and wheel barrels to get the job done. The boat ramp slabs are done and are scheduled to be put in place. With the board concerned about financial costs, it was added by Jim Fauser that the water can be lowered again to complete the other projects as the permit is good until 2020, perhaps at the end of October next year after all homeowners have their boats out. Jim Porath has generously offered to give our association an old wooden train that he removed from Collins School. A discussion was held to ask Jim to deliver it after construction of the dam is complete and deliver it to the pole barn. Linwood park needs a corner post on the fence to be replaced. A discussion took place and it was agreed and voted on to have the contractor that maintains our parks to do this, rather than the same volunteers or take the weekend time of our homeowners who are only here for a short period of time. Don met with Jim Porath to discuss the other projects on our permit to be accomplished while the water was low after receiving emails from homeowners about this. One of the things is the removal of stumps at Matchwood Park, lakeside. Also the dredging under the bridge on Hazelwood park and putting the sand on the island and stabilizing it so we don’t lose the sand.
Don reported that the tree at the tube has been removed. The stump has been left in to help prevent erosion. A new volley ball net has been put up, all buoys are in. Fence repaired at Ridgewood. Sand at Ridgewood has been added compliments of Brian Weber. Sand will be dumped at the seawall on the swim beach for the children for the summer. We also are looking to add sand at the volley ball court. Don received bids for repair of the fence on Linwood Park and painting the playscapes. The board agreed to have Better Yards do both. It was discussed that many requests have been made for a sandy swim area be added for the children. The board discussed ideas for this extensively. We will look at this project next year after the dam outlet tube repair is completed and paid for. Jim Porath mentioned that while we have the water level down for the dam outlet tube repair and we have the permit, we should really consider purchasing the concrete slabs for the boat launch and have him put them in at that time.
Don Adams has received 3 bids since it was discussed last month to replace some split rail fencing at the parks. A motion was made by Jim Fauser to accept the $1190 bid, and was seconded by Mary Jo. He also received bids to paint the playground equipment at each park. This financial decision will be made next month after talking to Mike Peterson to verify funding.
Please enjoy the parks this coming season!
